Sako Zeverijn
Sako Zeverijn serves as Chair of the board and of supervisory boards for several pension funds in the Netherlands. Ten years ago, he was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, an experience that profoundly shaped his perspective and engagement. As a result of his illness, he became actively involved as a representative of patients affected by this disease.
In this role, he has had the opportunity to review numerous research proposals from a patient’s perspective, contributing insights on relevance, impact, and patient needs. His work bridges governance, long-term strategic thinking, and patient advocacy, with a strong focus on advancing high-quality fundamental research that has the potential to improve outcomes for future patients.
Through his involvement in initiatives such as Cancer Grand Challenges, he is committed to ensuring that the patient voice remains an integral part of cutting-edge scientific collaboration.
