Challenges currently open for applications.

Two new challenges with awards of up to $34m.

Recognising the urgent need for progress in gastroesophageal cancer research, the Torrey Coast Foundation and Cancer Research UK have partnered to launch a targeted Cancer Grand Challenges funding call on gastroesophageal cancers.

The call seeks to fund international teams capable of bringing novel approaches, technologies and thinking to tackle two major challenges.

Cancer Grand Challenges launches two new targeted challenges, open to the global research community. 

24 November 2026 

Full application submission deadline.

Please note: applicants should submit Letters of Interest at least two weeks before the application close date to allow time for an eligibility determination by the Cancer Grand Challenges office, and time to submit a full application.

20 January 2027 

Shortlisted teams interview with the Cancer Grand Challenges Scientific Committee. 

March 2027 

Successful team(s) are announced at the Cancer Grand Challenges Summit.
