Five new teams and a year of scientific creativity

A Milestone Moment

Introducing five new Cancer Grand Challenges teams and publication of Discover magazine

Five new teams

Today, 4 March 2026, we announced the five new teams selected to take on five of cancer’s toughest challenges. These teams have the opportunity to change the way we think about, study, prevent and treat cancer.

A growing coalition

Thank you to our coalition of visionary partners who make this investment of $125m possible, including the Bowelbabe Fund for Cancer Research UK, Cancer Research Institute, Children Cancer Free Foundation (KiKa), KWF Dutch Cancer Society, Torrey Coast Foundation, and Yosemite (oncology-focused venture firm).

A year of scientific creativity

We also published our yearly progress magazine Discover, where you can learn more about the teams, their approaches and hear how Charles Swanton (Chair of our Scientific Committee) was inspired by their transformative potential. Discover also showcases the incredible progress of our funded teams over the last year, demonstrating the power of global team science.
