Chi Van Dang

Professor Chi Van Dang is a hematologist-oncologist and cancer biologist known for his work in defining the complex functions of the MYC oncogene and establishing the first mechanistic link between MYC and cellular energy metabolism. He is also known for illuminating how MYC disrupts the circadian clock and metabolism, conferring cancer cell vulnerabilities that can be exploited for therapy with small molecules and dietary modulation.

Chi held multiple leadership roles including the directorship of the Abramson Cancer Center at the University of Pennsylvania. He is CEO and scientific director of the Ludwig Institute for Cancer Research as well as Bloomberg Distinguished Professor of Cancer Medicine at Johns Hopkins University. Amongst Chi’s honours are membership in the US of American Society for Clinical Investigation, Association of American Physicians, and the National Academy of Medicine, and he is an elected fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences and the American Association for Cancer Research Academy.
