Scott Suckow

Scott Suckow is a nationally recognised nonprofit leader and patient advocate with more than three decades of experience advancing public health, policy, and community engagement. He currently serves as Executive Director of the Liver Coalition of San Diego and as a Senior Consultant with Perry Communications Group, where he works with patient communities to address policy barriers that affect access to care and treatment for chronic health conditions. His career includes leadership roles with major voluntary health organisations, including the American Liver Foundation, American Diabetes Association, Huntington’s Disease Society of America, International Bipolar Foundation, Mental Health America of San Diego County, Muscular Dystrophy Association, and the Northeast Ohio Liver Alliance.

Scott brings lived experience as a patient, caregiver, and supporter of friends impacted by cancer and other serious illnesses. This perspective informs his work designing programs that promote prevention, early detection, and equitable access to care. He has raised more than $35 million for research and advocacy, testified before legislative bodies, drafted health-related legislation, and led statewide and national advocacy campaigns.

A coalition-builder and strategic communicator, Scott is committed to elevating patient voices in research and policy. Within the CAUSE project, he focuses on integrating patient perspectives, strengthening inclusive communication, and ensuring findings reach the communities they are designed to benefit.
