Lluvia Del Rio

Meet Lluvia, a patient advocate on PROMINENT

Raised in the fertile land of the Salinas Valley also known as “the salad bowl of the world,” Lluvia has a deep interest and finds joy in helping people improve their life story. Her volunteer efforts slowly began in 2018 after a cancer diagnosis. It was after she made the decision to leave her beloved corporate career in agriculture and dive into the non-profit cancer landscape. Although nervous at first, she has no regrets. She was not surprised to learn that there were not many cancer resources in the farming town where she lives to impact positive outcomes. Most recently, she has worked with Cancer Patients Alliance where she is a program manager and direct several initiatives involving cancer in immigrants and underserved communities. One of her greatest hopes is to create awareness and bring more quality cancer treatment to local clinics and hospitals. She lives by the words “Be Kind” and find inspiration in her children each day. She believes humans are much like plants that need nurturing to grow. In her free time she loves exploring the lovely state of California and visiting her parents, sisters, and nieces. She enjoys great conversation over a delicious meal.
