John Presner
John Prensner is a clinical paediatric oncologist and cancer biologist whose work has established the importance of aberrant activation of the dark matter of the cancer genome. His research has defined roles for noncoding RNAs and microproteins across multiple cancer types, including brain, prostate and lung cancers. These findings have led to novel biomarker discoveries that have impacted patients with cancer. He was one of the co-founders of the TransCODE Consortium for dark proteome research. John currently holds the Barry J. Glick Early Career Professorship in Paediatric Oncology at the University of Michigan’s Chad Carr Pediatric Brain Tumor Center, where he specialises in and conducts clinical trials for children with brain tumours. He has been the recipient of an American Association for Cancer Research NextGen Stars award, an American Society for Clinical Investigation Young Physician-Scientist Award, and a Scientific Co-Chair position with the Children’s Brain Tumor Network.
