Professor Robert Schreiber
Meet Robert Schreiber, member of the Scientific Committee
Professor Schreiber has been a pivotal figure in validating and advancing the theory of cancer immunosurveillance and immunoediting, the processes by which our immune systems monitor, control, and shape the development of cancer.
His honours include the SITC - Richard V Smalley Memorial Award (2023), the AACR-Princess Takamatsu Memorial Lectureship Award (2023), 2024 Senior Scientist Recipient of the Innovators in Science Award Cancer in Immunology, Member NCI-Cancer Research UK Grand challenges Scientific Advisory Committee (2024), Lifetime Achievement Award: Immunotherapy of Cancer Association (2025) and the Distinguished Faculty Award Washington University in St. Louis (2025). Professor Schreiber also received the 2001 William B. Coley Award for Distinguished Research in Basic and Tumour Immunology, the 2014 AACR-CRI Lloyd J. Old Award in Cancer Immunology, and the 2017 Balzan Prize. He has been elected to the National Academy of Sciences and the American Association for the Advancement of Science. His current work continues to characterize how various immune signalling pathways, as well as tumour mutations, influence anti-tumour immune responses.
